A Steam Accumulator is a smart way to reduce severe boiler loading and cycling when short-duration, high-flow rate steam is required. These steam requirements are sometimes found in industrial manufacturing, autoclaves, food processing, or sterilization processes; an accumulator can store the high-pressure steam until it is needed.
An accumulator can reduce the fuel consumption and increase the service life of your boiler by stabilizing its operating conditions, though it cannot make up for a shortcoming in total boiler capacity. The accumulator stores energy until the process requires it.
